Author Nancy Zastrow uses warmth and humor to
highlight the individual qualities of each of these robust metal
artists. Her vision captures not a casual profession, but
a true calling in which metal becomes a fluid medium and the
realities of fences, gates and fountains take exquisite, sometimes
whimsical form. Nancy’s interest in blacksmithing
began in 1990 when her husband Ken discovered his own metalsmith
talents.
Her involvement grew as she attended blacksmith meetings and events. She
has edited blacksmith affiliate newsletters for over 10 years, and has pitched
a tent at countless weekend gatherings, rain or shine. Nancy holds
a degree in journalism from Syracuse University and is the author of ‘The
Radiant Life’ and ‘Maryland’s Great Gardens’. She
and Ken live in Silver Spring, Maryland, where they take delight in their five
children and 12 grandchildren. |
